Earn Two Degrees

Students enrolled in either Sonoran’s 4-year ND program of study (ND4) and 5-year program of study (ND5) are eligible to apply as early as Quarter 5 (ND4) or Quarter 9 (ND5).

No.  This is not a dual degree program or new degree program for Sonoran. Sonoran is offering a pathway for Sonoran’s ND students to earn the MS and ND degrees concurrently so that they can graduate with the two degrees at the same time.* Concurrently enrolled students must meet all Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements in each program to remain on track to graduate and be awarded the two degrees at the same time.

No, two separate applications must be submitted. Since this is not a dual degree program and since the two fields of study are housed in two different colleges at Sonoran, students must apply and get admitted to both colleges/programs separately.

• Q4 (ND4) or Q8 (ND5) ND: Upon successful completion of Q4 (ND4) or Q8 (ND5) ND students interested in enrolling in an MS Nutrition program should inform the Sonoran Admissions Office and initiate application.
• No later than Q7 (ND4) or Q11 (ND5):ND students should submit a completed MS application (MSCN or MSNBL) and all required application materials for admission consideration. Applicants who qualify and meet all admission requirements will be offered admission.
• ND Q8 (ND4) or Q12 (ND5):Admitted students will be required to submit official documentation of meeting concurrent enrollment eligibility requirements, this includes a review and recommendation by the Dean of the College of Naturopathic Medicine.
• (For MSCN program) By Q9 (ND4) or Q13 (ND5):ND student begins MSCN program provisionally until all concurrent enrollment eligibility requirements are met (documentation must be received no later than the registration deadline for second quarter MS courses).
• (For MSNBL program) By Q11 (ND4) or Q15 (ND5): ND student begins MSNBL program provisionally until all concurrent enrollment eligibility requirements are met (documentation must be received no later than the registration deadline for second quarter MS courses).

If all admission and eligibility criteria are met, ND student begins MS program in Q9 (ND4)/Q13 (ND5) for MSCN or Q11 (ND5) for MSNBL.

If you’re not ready to start by the end of your second year, there are still paths for you to earn both degrees outside of the concurrent enrollment option.

Yes. Select ND coursework is eligible credit for some MS courses.  Student must have successfully completed all nutrition prerequisite courses to receive credit toward MS programs and no more than 12-credits from the ND program are permissible.

NOTE: This only applies to ND students who have completed the courses at Sonoran. ND students who completed coursework at other schools will have to have their courses reviewed through Sonoran’s transfer credit evaluation process outlined in the Course Catalog and on our website.
