Sonoran University of Health Sciences (formerly Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine & Health Sciences) has a rich history of sending healthcare professionals, naturopathic physicians, and nutritionists into the world with not just a knowledge of medicine and nutrition but a rich experience in its healing effects. We train and prepare graduates for the future of medicine and health care. Since day one, we have been an innovator in the fields of naturopathic medicine, nutrition, and now mental health, and we continue to strive to advance the profession and opportunities for every graduate.
As a student, you’ll have the opportunity to learn in the classroom, clinical environment, and online, as well as in student clubs, activities, and study groups. At Sonoran University, we are united in a calling to embrace the natural world, and the supportive community is here to fuel your success.
Sonoran University of Health Sciences shapes a healthier future by supporting students as they train to excel as healthcare professionals, by enhancing the health and wellbeing of our patients and communities, and by discovering effective treatments for humanity grounded in the healing power of nature.
Our vision is a world that embraces the healing power of nature.
Sonoran is committed as an institution to building a community where all individuals feel respected, included, supported, and valued.
The leadership of any organization is an essential part of the success matrix. Sonoran’s leadership exhibits both strong character as well as the ability to direct efforts for the benefit of our medical and nutrition program students. Ensuring that Sonoran’s mission and core values are woven throughout the campus experience, our leaders work tirelessly for our students’ success.
I’m Dr. Paul Mittman, President/CEO of Sonoran University of Health Sciences.
I have been a naturopathic physician for the past 37 years. I practiced for 25 of those, conducted and published research, taught medical students and promoted the benefits of naturopathic medicine to the public. Working with dedicated and bright faculty and staff, we establish partnerships with healthcare systems, clinics and practitioners to provide Sonoran students outstanding learning experiences and career opportunities. We establish philanthropic relationships with individuals and corporations to create the best campus resources for the benefit of Sonoran students and patients – state of the art classrooms, study and library spaces, the integrative Neil Riordan Center for Regenerative Medicine, Ric Scalzo Institute for Botanical Research, laboratories and wellness facilities. We partner with foundations for Sonoran physicians and students to provide quality healthcare to underserved communities at six sites in the Phoenix metropolitan area.
I am Sonoran University. So is each student who starts their career in naturopathic medicine or clinical nutrition. So is every faculty member who imparts the knowledge, research and wisdom to a new generation of physicians. So is every member of the staff whose work creates a safe, creative and innovative environment for learning and healing. So are our 1300+ alumni, who improve the lives of tens of thousands of patients.
We are Sonoran University. How about you?
