Take your next steps for enrollment! Make sure you’ve completed these items as part of the admissions process:
Peer mentoring is available for ND students during their first six months of enrollment at Sonoran University’s College of Naturopathic Medicine. While this is not required, we have found it is extremely valuable and very helpful for new students! Below are reflections mentees have stated in regards to their experience with their mentors:
To participate in this program and get matched with a mentor, please follow the instructions provided during New Student Orientation
You should expect to hear from your mentor within the first two weeks of the start of classes. There will also be a Peer Mentor Meet ‘n Greet during first week of classes, where mentors and mentees will formally meet in person. The exact date and location are to be determined. Contact peermentor@sonoran.edu with any questions or concerns.
All class schedules will be posted on mySonoran about 6 weeks prior to the start of the quarter.
First quarter required book lists are posted on mySonoran a few weeks before the quarter begins. We’ll send you a note once it’s available. Students often ask if they should buy every book on the list. All required books are available for short-term loan in the Sonoran library. Some students purchase all their books. Others wait to purchase their books until after attending Orientation.
Incoming ND students should purchase/download Medical Terminology: A Short Course, 8th Edition by Davi-Ellen Chabner, BA, MAT. You are required to read this book before you arrive. You will be quizzed on the material during Orientation.
Incoming ND students are also highly encouraged to buy a good human anatomy atlas. Some favorites include Atlas of Anatomy by Anne M Gilroy, Brian R MacPherson, Lawrence M Ross, Michael Schuenke, Erik Schulte or Atlas of Human Anatomy by Frank Netter, MD.
dealoz.com does the comparative shopping for you by listing the price, shipping, and availability at dozens of online book sellers.
abebooks.com is highly recommended by fellow students.
bookfinder.com is highly recommended by Robert Wilbanks, Library Assistant.
ND students are required to dress professionally for your Introduction to Clinical Practice I & Clinical Skills Lab (CLPR). You don’t need a full professional wardrobe, just a couple of outfits that you can alternate every week and a pair of comfortable closed-toe shoes.
Need to buy professional clothes? There are lots of great discount stores in the Phoenix area including Ross, Marshalls/TJ Maxx, Dillard’s Outlet and quality second hand stores including My Sister’s Closet, Poor Little Rich Girl and If I Were a Rich Man.
Lab coats – Sonoran University provides lab coats for students in the Anatomy Lab which includes a cleaning service every week. The coats come in various sizes: XXS, XS, S, M, L, XL and XXL.
*Not required, but a lot of students like to have a pair of scrubs to wear underneath their lab coat to Anatomy Lab.
If you are interested in connecting with future classmates, finding housing, organizing get-togethers and more, we will add you to a private group for your class on Facebook. To be a part of this group, “friend” Jody Jain and then we’ll add you to the page. Happy connecting!
